One step leads to another

Uplift participant Shivan Ainomugisha (above right) is pursing higher education and dignified, fulfilling work. Shivan serves as a role model to primary students like Cindy Ayebare (above left). Once without the hope of advancing beyond primary school because of funding, Cindy now sees Shivan’s success and opportunities as a reason to study. 

Parents are responding, too. Because the future holds opportunity where there once was none, parents are motivated to engage their children in their studies, making sure they go to school, complete homework, and taking advantage of mentors and tutors.
