Sponsor a nursing student — change the face of healthcare in rural Uganda.
Uganda Nursing School Bwindi provides the only advanced nursing training in the Bwindi area. Your sponsorship educates compassionate, well-trained personnel who will impact local healthcare for years to come. The Nursing Student Sponsorship Program provides support to students attending UNSB. Many of these students are from low-income rural families and would not be able to attend without your support.
How does the sponsorship work?
A sponsorship costs $1,500 annually. This tax-deductible donation covers all that is required for a student to have advanced training for a year: tuition, fees, laboratory and internet support, instructors’ salaries, accommodations, supplies, transportation, and more.
Sponsorships auto-renew annually so each student has the stability of continuing training without interruption. Your sponsorship may be cancelled at any time by contacting us in writing.
Who can sponsor?
Anyone! This includes (but is not limited to) individuals, professional groups, families, churches, and community organizations.
What makes students eligible for sponsorship and how are they chosen?
All students who are enrolled in UNSB are eligible for sponsorship. First priority is given to those who meet UNSB scholarship recipient criteria, which include academic qualifications, ability to pay, and a commitment to serve at Bwindi or other under-served areas after graduation.
How does the student benefit from the money I provide?
Ninety percent of your donation is applied directly to UNSB educational costs (tuition, room, board, transportation, exam fees, supplies, clinical rotations, and infrastructure) and ten percent is allocated for Kellermann Foundation administrative costs (such as bookkeeping, auditing, and funds transfer fees).
May I correspond with my sponsored student?
Sponsors may communicate with their students via email and letters sent through the Kellermann Foundation. Each sponsor will receive periodic reports on the sponsored student. Email contact directly with the student is also possible upon request. The Kellermann Foundation will help facilitate this process.
