Batwa Development Program - Agricultural Initiatives

Batwa families are cultivating their own crops and growing healthy food for their households while being mentored by a full-time Batwa Development Program (BDP) Agricultural Officer.

The Batwa Development Program provides:

  • Seeds and training in sustainable agriculture from soil preparation and fertilization, to the handling of harvested beans, maize, eggplant, cabbage, ground nuts, millet, and bananas

  • Workshops with model Batwa farmers whose high-achieving farms serve as demonstration gardens for other Batwa farmers

  • Emergency provision of food and new seeds in cases of drought and flooding

  • Primary school gardening workshops and a bountiful harvest for school lunches

Together we can create a community free of hunger!
