Batwa Education
Without an education, Batwa pygmy children will face a bleak future and few or no job choices. Children who receive an education improve the chances that they and their families will overcome the cycle of poverty. Full Scholarship: $750

Batwa Home-Building
Most Batwa in the Bwindi region are homeless and survive by making shelters of leaves and branches. A sturdy mud‐and‐wood home with a metal roof can be built for only $950 and can last for generations. Home Builder: $950

The Batwa Women’s Center
Batwa women weave baskets and create other crafts to help support their families. The Batwa Women’s Center will provide a welcoming space for them to gather to work on crafts, attend adult education, and become productive wage earners. Major Contributor: $1,000

Maternal Health
Uganda has one of the highest maternal death rates in the world. In the remote Bwindi area, many women have no prenatal care and may give birth in a dark, remote hut with no help, and no recourse if problems develop. Women who have their babies at Bwindi Hospital dramatically increase the chances that both mother and child will be healthy; just $100 will cover all prenatal visits and a hospital delivery.
